St. Gabriel Youth Association
The St. Gabriel's Youth Association of Debre Ganet Kidus Gabriel Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church was founded on April 21, 2013 by Fr. Melake Ganet Tesfa Eyesus, with the intent of empowering all the youths by giving them a voice and a place in our church. Melake Ganet Tesfa Eyesus worked constantly with the youths and developed a Constitution, which included a pledge and a motto, and the function of all officers within the Association. Along with prayers, they are said in every meeting, which occurs every month.

The youths are advised on the structure and hierarchy of the church, and that respect is to be maintained for the leaders, the elders, and each other. The purpose of the Youth Association is to develop well-rounded, confident and progressive youths who can take their rightful place in the church and the community.

The objective of the Youth Association is manifold and includes developing leadership skills, public speaking, organizational skills, responsibility, diligence, communication skills, tolerance, self-knowledge and being firm in their faith as Orthodox Christians. All the youths are a part of this Association, and are expected to have responsibilities and contribute within the church. These attributes should naturally filter out into areas such as school, family, work and society.
As Our Holy Lord and Savior, Eyesus Kristos, says," Let your light so shine before men, that they may see you good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven. (Mt.5:16) With this intent, our youths will be well prepared to face the world, take the torch and lead our church firmly into the future.

May the Blessings of St. Gabriel who saved the three boys from the fire be with us all.
