Establishment of Debre Ganet Kidus Gabriel Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in, New Jersey, Inc. is a branch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in the Western Hemisphere Diocese. Debre Ganet Kiduse Gabriel Church was established in 1998 at the request of members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church who resides in New Jersey and who wished to establish a local church community.  The mission started its services in a rented space in Newark, NJ with 30 members.  Now we have over 200 members in the metropolitan area.   At present, there are two priests, namely Melake Selam Paulos, and Melake Ganet Tesfa Eyesus, and four deacons who regularly provide sacramental and other services to the community.  We also have three visiting priests from Holy Trinity New York, namely Melake Tsion Mahatima Selassie, Mugabe Serate Saife Selassie and Megabie Aielafe Kesis Ephriam and also a Nun Emahoy Woletta Sellassie.  We also have a visiting priest from St. Michael Church, Englewood NJ. Namely Melake Hayle Amde Tsion.  The Church is operated by the Administrator and Board of Trustees who are entrusted with the overall management of the Church.  Our services to the Orthodox Christian community is ongoing since the establishment of our parish church and currently all sacramental services are performed in the language of Ethiopic {Ge'ez} and the English Language

OUR MISSION

The goal of the Church is to render religious and secular service to the community; Preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, with the aim of improving lives and promoting peace, order, meaning and purpose into the lives of the general population.  

Worshiping the one true GOD of the old testament and adopt the Judaic element {1000 B.C., Queen of Sheba and Solomon} to embrace Christianity and maintain the doctrine of Christ from the era of the Apostles to the present day.

The Church is in full communion with the Oriental Orthodox Churches, Dioceses in Jerusalem, the United States of America, Canada, The Caribbean {Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Bermuda and the Virgin Island), Europe and South Africa.
